Four summoned over installation of Thileepan statue in Jaffna

The Jaffna court has issued summons on four people in connection with the installation of a statue of Thileepan in the Nallur area of Jaffna.
Police removed the statue and took it into their custody before launching an investigation. Four people allegedly involved in installing the statue were subsequently identified and legal proceedings were instituted against them.
Earlier, the Nallur Pradeshiya Sabha said the statue had been installed after a proposal submitted by Jaffna Municipal Council member. The council is ruled by the Illankai Tamil Arasu Katchi (ITAK).
The four people who have been summoned are required to appear before the Jaffna court on 7 October.
