Since the first Sri Lankan afflicted by COVID-19 earlier this month, the number of patients has gone up to 59. According to health authorities, most of the patients are in the 40-50 age group. Nearly 2280 people are in quarantine across the 16 centres across the country.
Sri Lanka has temporarily banned international flights from many countries and on Thursday, March 19, called on employees of all non-essential services to stay home another week. As well, parliamentary elections scheduled for April 25th were postponed indefinitely.
