Three uncapped players named in Sri Lanka Asian Games T20 squad

Sri Lanka have named three uncapped players, Sineth Jayawardena, Wanuja Sahan and Sohan de Livera, in their men’s T20 squad for the 20th Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan.
Sahan Arachchige will captain the 15-member side, while Chamari Athapaththu will lead the women’s team.
Jayawardena earned his first national T20 call-up after strong performances in the Major Clubs limited-overs and T20 tournaments, including centuries against CCC and Panadura SC.
Leg-spinner Wanuja Sahan, who has also represented Sri Lanka A, has taken 14 wickets in the limited-overs tournament and five in the T20 competition.
Moors SC wicketkeeper-batter Sohan de Livera has scored 307 runs in seven matches in the ongoing Major Club T20 tournament, including three half-centuries.
Sri Lanka, India, Pakistan and Bangladesh will enter the men’s competition directly at the quarter-final stage. Sri Lanka will play their quarter-final on 29 September.
The women’s team will face Malaysia in their quarter-final on 17 September.
Sri Lanka’s women won silver at the 2023 Asian Games in Hangzhou, while the men were eliminated by Afghanistan in the semi-finals.
