The Colombo District Court today issued an Enjoining Order preventing the United National Party (UNP),from expelling Sri Jayawardenapura Kotte Municipal Councilor Dhammika Chandraratne from party membership until April 12.
Colombo District Court Judge Aruna Aluthge made this order subsequent to a lawsuit filed by Municipal Councilor Dhammika Chandraratne. In his petition, the plaintiff cited UNP leader Ranil Wickremesinghe, General Secretary Palitha Range Bandara and several others as defendants.
The plaintiff stated he had been expelled from party membership alleging that he sat on the government benches. The Municipal Councilor alleged that the defendants failed to conduct a fair disciplinary inquiry against him and always acted contrary to the natural justice.
