A hospital staff member attached to the Maharagama Cancer Hospital was today ordered to be remanded till February 28 by the Colombo Chief Magistrate’s Court for allegedly stealing hospital medicines and selling them to cancer patients.

 

Suspect Nissanka Udayanga was arrested by the Bribery Commission over a complaint that a medicine known as carboplatin used to treat cancer patients is being sold to the cancer patients for Rs.21,000. It was revealed that the suspect had stolen a stock of carboplatin donated by donors to the Maharagama Cancer Hospital.
