The Colombo Civil Appellate High Court today ordered to dismiss of the appeal applications filed by former President Maithripala Sirisena, who challenged the Colombo District Court’s decision to reject his request that he be discharged from several civil lawsuits filed by the victims of Easter Sunday attacks.
The Colombo Civil Appellate High Court’s two-judge bench, comprising of Justice Frank Gunawardena and Justice Chamath Moraes, ordered the dismissal of these appeals with costs amounting to Rs. 21,000 each.
Relatives of those killed in the Colombo suicide bombings and injured individuals have filed 108 lawsuits in Colombo District Court seeking compensation from former President Maithripala Sirisena and several other defendants.
