The Officer in -Charge of the Welikada Police Station has been transferred to Police Field Force Headquarters over the death of a housemaid while being interrogated by the police. She was admitted to the National Hospital in a critical condition and died thereafter. Investigators suspect that the woman in question had been assaulted while in the custody of the police.
