A fire that erupted on the Mary Mount hill near the Victoria Dam is spreading rapidly with strong winds.
This fire that broke out on the western slopes of the Mary Mount yesterday destroyed an area of 500 square metres near the Victoria dam.
Employees of the Victoria Dam have been deployed to douse the fire using water bowsers.
Officials say such fires occur every year, and in order to prevent the fire from reaching the dam, fire ribbons have been cut. As a result, fires do not reach the dam area.
