A patient who was receiving treatment at Ward No. 72 of the Colombo National Hospital had died while being administered an antibiotic, Coamoxiclav.
Deputy Director General of Health Services, Dr. G. Wijesuriya, said that an investigation is going on to ascertain the cause of the death. He said that an allergic reaction may have caused the death.
However, the use of Coamoxiclav has been suspended temporarily until the investigation into the death and the drug concludes, he said.
