The Russian ambassador in Colombo, Levan Dzhagryan, said yesterday that Russia never imposes any conditions on aid, neither political nor economic.
The ambassador said that one of the aims of Russian foreign policy is to promote international cooperation in solving economic, social, cultural, and humanitarian problems.
Our aim is always humanitarian; our actions are based on the principles of respect for independence and non-interference in domestic affairs”, he said.
The Russian envoy was speaking at the handover of 352 metric tonnes of sunflower oil to Sri Lanka through the World Food Programme in Colombo.
Food is one of the most important concerns during any crisis. Without proper nutrition, people are at risk for many health problems due to food insecurity and other hardships”, he said.
