Three patients who were identified as COVID-19 positive on May 5th, have tested negative in the second PCR test, states Director of Health Services, Dr. Anil Jasinghe.
The three are a Nurse attached to the National Hospital, one from Rajagiriya and the other from Kollonnawa.
Earlier in the day, the Health Ministry’s Chief Epidemiologist Dr. Sudath Samaraweera stated that they were baffled about how these three and one other patient had contracted the virus. This is the first time that health officials have been unable to pinpoint the source.
As well, family members of the patient from Modera, who succumbed to the virus on Tuesday, May 5th have also tested negative.
Meanwhile, the latest update from the Health Promotions Bureau shows the total number of confirmed cases as 795, with 24 new cases recorded today, May 6th.
