Government to buy Fertilizer to be distributed in April
The government has awarded three tenders after competitive bids to provide Chemical Fertilizer to Lak Pohora and Colombo Commercial Fertilizer Ltd to supply fertilizer at the beginning of April.
Accordingly the Swiss Singapore Overseas Enterprises (pvt) Ltd, Swiss Singapore Valency International (pvt) Ltd. And Agricultural resources (pvt) Ltd are to provide 40500 tons of Urea (Granular), 8500 Tons of Urea (Prilled) and13900 Tons of Urea (Muirate of Potash) respectively.to Lak Pohora and Colombo Commercial Fertilizer Ltd.
Urea (Granular) will cost 343.10 US$ per M/T while Urea (Prilled) and Urea (Muiriate Potash) will cost 364.74 US $ per M/T and 258.74 US $ respectively.
Government to build 5000 rural bridges
The Cabinet has also approved the construction of 5000 rural bridges such as pedestrian bridges and vehicular bridges island wide under the Government’s 100,000km Rural Road Network Rehabilitation Programme .
Asia Infrastructure Investment Bank to held Covid hit enterprises
The Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank has agreed to provide two loans each worth 90 million US$ to Bank of Ceylon and the Peoples Bank to facilitate their clients who are worst hit by the Covid 19 pandemic.
The Cabinet has given the green light to the Ministry of Finance to enter into relevant agreements and to take necessary measures to implement the project.
Solar power units to boost power supply
The government has also moved to approve 150 Mw of solar power plants to be established in Anuradhapura, Habarana ,Matara ,Galle, Deniyaya, Kosgama, Mathugama Pannalal,Mahawa, and Kurunegala.
The government will provide the procumbent for selected bidders for a period of twenty years.
22 prospective investors to be given land
The government will allocate plots of lands from eight industrial zones to 22 prospective investors for a period 35 years on a lease basis.
The investment amounts to Rs 24047.85 million and 3 million US$ and will generate more than 3000 employment opportunities.
