Medical Professionals have written to the President expressing their concern over the grave danger the country is facing due to the unabated and rampant spread of the Covid 19 virus.
Medical professionals representing Sri Lanka Medical Association, Government Medical Officers Association, and The Association of Medical Specialists along with the SLMA Intercollegiate Committee, have written to President Gotabaya Rajapaksa expressing deep concern over the current Covid crisis in Sri Lanka.
The Medical Professionals have proposed a seven-point programme to bail the country out of the present impasse at the earliest possibility.

Authorization of the isolation of families with home management of asymptomatic cases while being assiduously monitored by health care professionals should be complemented by arrangements made for the early transfer of pneumonia patients to the closest designated hospital, adequately supplying ICU facilities, beds and oxygen to the needy and expanding laboratory facilities and increasing the number of PCR and other tests carried out daily, while the essential services sectors to be operative under stricter health guidelines.
The medical professionals have urged the government to act now, stating that if the government does not act now, it would mean even more severe sustained hardships for the general populace in the near future.
