Former Speaker Karu Jayasuriya has made a passionate appeal to three European countries to provide some of the COVID-19 vaccines they have in excess for the Sri Lankan people.
The Former Speaker has requested from Switzerland, France and Germany to consider this matter urgently. The Ambassadors have responded positively to this request.
Meanwhile, Mr Jayasuriya reportedly had a lengthy discussion with the Permanent Representative of Sri Lanka to the United Nations about the critical situation Sri Lanka is facing due to the spread of the Coronavirus.
During these discussions, MrJayasuriya requested the relevant countries and the United Nations to provide Sri Lanka with the excess stocks of COVID-19 vaccines available with them.
