Foreign Minister Dinesh Gunawardenaexpressed his concern in respect of the proposedresolution introduced by Congresswoman Deborah Ross, to the Chair and members of the House Foreign Affairs Committee.
The Minister at the same time sought the assistance of the State Department either to withdraw or amend the same.
The Minister made this request when Charge d’ Affairs of the US Embassy in Colombo Martin T. Kelly called on him at the Foreign Ministry.
The Minister explained that the Resolution will not be helpful for reconciliation efforts in Sri Lanka.
Foreign Secretary Jayanath Colombage was also present at the meeting.
