In its most recent efforts to support the nation during turbulent times, Dialog Axiata PLC, Sri Lanka’s premier connectivity provider once again joined hands with TV Derana under the ‘Dialog with Manusath Derana’ umbrella initiative to provide relief to families and individuals who were impacted by floods.
This nationwide response effort is a part of the multitude of projects being conducted by Dialog to support the country in its hour of need. Across a period of three days, the team at Dialog and Derana provided clean drinking water, dry rations, medicine and other essential items to the divisional secretariats of Gampaha, Wattala, Colombo, Kaduwela, Kolonnawa and Galle.
In addition to this, Dialog has also been parallelly supporting the national fight against COVID-19 in the country. The third rendition of Dialog with Manusath Derana saw the dedicated team assisting 34 hospitals across the island sustain their daily operations, whilst parallelly seeing to the delivery of dry rations packs to 44,532 Sri Lankans in lockdown areas for over a month. Similarly, during the first two outbreaks of Coronavirus in the country, the first ‘Dialog with Manusath Derana’ initiative completed the distribution of packaged dry rations for approximately 6 weeks to over 128,000 people in 400+ villages across 22 districts and the second initiative covered 46,000 people in 10 districts in 22 days.
The entire process of purchasing, packaging and distributing dry rations are done in accordance with the health and safety guidelines mandated by government health authorities to minimize the risk of spread of the coronavirus.
Dialog Axiata also pledged a sum of Rs. 200 Million towards the upliftment of Critical Health Infrastructure at the first signs of COVID-19 in the country. This hallmark pledge enabled the commissioning of 10 fully functional Intensive Care Units (ICU) at the Negombo Hospital and the Homagama Base Hospital and strengthened the collective effort to overcome the COVID-19 pandemic as one nation.
