Urban Development and Housing Minister Prasanna Ranatunga has instructed UDA officials to take necessary safety measures as there is a danger to the public in the vicinity of the Colombo Krish building construction site.
The Minister emphasised the need to take immediate action in this regard, as the Ministry has responsibility in the event of an accident.
The Minister gave these instructions when the Advisory Committee of the Ministry of Urban Development and Housing met in Parliament under the Chairmanship of Minister Ranatunga recently.
It was discussed that there is a risk of accidents caused by collapsing devices, including the construction aids installed at the site where the Krish building was being built, due to the wind, and there is the possibility of mosquito breeding due to the accumulation of water.
The officials were also instructed to institute legal action immediately if the investor in this project fails to resume the construction work within a specified time frame.
