Abduction case against Muthuhettigama: High Court says prosecution failed to prove its case

Galle High Court yesterday ordered the acquittal of former Parliamentarian NishanthaMuthuhettigama from a case filed by Attorney General, over the abduction and unlawful detention of an individual that took place in 2009.
Ordering the acquittal of the five accused including former Parliamentarian from all charges, Galle High Court Judge W. G. S. Nisshanka observed that the prosecution has failed to prove its case beyond a reasonable doubt.
The Attorney General filed indictments on nine counts. against former Parliamentarian and four others, for abduction and unlawful detention of an individual on the 7th of September 2009.
