Those affected by the protected animals to receive enhanced compensation

The government has decided to increase the quantum of compensation paid to affected people for damages caused by protected animals including, wild elephants.
Accordingly, the Cabinet of Ministers has approved the compensation payment procedure presented by the Minister of Wild Life and Forest Conservation. The new compensation package is as follows,
- Increase the compensation payment of Rs. 500000 paid so far for a loss of life to Rs.10, 00000 lakhs despite the gender or age limit.
- Increasing the Compensation of Rs. 500000 paid so far for a person with a complete disability to Rs. 10, 00000 despite the gender or age limit.
- Increase the compensation of Rs. 75,000/- paid so far for partial disability or physical injuries to Rs. 150,000/-.
- Increase the compensation of one hundred thousand rupees paid so far for house and property damages caused by wild elephant attacks to a maximum of Rs.200000.
