Archbishop Malcolm Cardinal Ranjith requested the general public to observe a two-minute silence at 8.45 a.m on the 21st of April as a mark of respect to the victims of the 2019 Terrorist Attacks.
Addressing the media today, the Archbishop said all Catholic schools in the country will be closed on the 21st of April 2021, the day that marks 02 years since the terror attacks took place.
“The attacks affected all communities in Sri Lanka.” told the Archbishop clarifying that his comments on Sunday, taken out of context.
“I did not say that Muslim Extremism was not present in the country. I did not refer to any political force in the country. I was referring to global Wahhabism. It is possible that Wahhabism is being used as a tool by some powerful countries in the world,” The Archbishop said.
