The Court of Appeal today issued an interim order preventing the President of the Sri Lanka Football Federation Sri Ranga and its newly elected office bearers from carrying out duties and functioning as duly elected Office bearers of the Football Federation.
This order will be effective until tomorrow (19).
The Court of Appeal’s two-judge bench, comprising Justices Sobhitha Rajakaruna and Dhammika Ganepola, made this order pursuant to a writ petition filed by former President of the FFSL Jaswar Umar Lebbe.
In his petition, the petitioner is seeking an order in the nature of a Writ of Mandamus directing the Sports Minister, Ministry Secretary, and sports authorities to conduct a fresh election of the Football Federation of Sri Lanka.
