The case against Minister Prasanna Ranatunga and his wife was today fixed for judgment by Colombo High Court for June 6.

Colombo High Court Judge Manjula Tillekaratne informed that the judgment would be delivered on June 6.

Both prosecution and defence concluded their oral submissions before the trial judge.

The Attorney General had filed indictments against Minister Prasanna Ranatunge, his wife Maureen Ranatunge and another person on the charge of threatening a businessman demanding the rest of the money out of sum of Rs.64 million.

The Colombo High Court decided to proceed with the trial against Prasanna Ranatunge and his wife in absentia of the third accused, Naresh Kumar Fareek. Fareek was evading courts from the beginning of investigations. The Attorney General filed indictments on 15 counts against three accused, Prasanna Ranatunge, Maureen Ranatunge and Naresh Kumar Fareek, based on charges of committing offences between April 6, 2015, and June 2, 2015.
