The case against Ven. Gnanasara Thero for defaming Islam has been fixed for December 4th by the Chief Magistrate Court.

  A case filed against Bodu Bala Sena (BBS) General Secretary Ven. Galagodaatte Gnanasara Thera for allegedly making a defamatory statement about Islam and the Holy Quran in 2014 was today fixed for December 4 by Colombo Fort Magistrate’s Court. The Court was informed that the Attorney General is yet to provide his legal advice regarding this case. The Colombo Crimes Division (CCD) filed this case against Gnanasara Thera for allegedly making a defamatory statement about Islam and the Holy Quran on April 12, 2014, near the Slave Island police station. In statements to the CCD, more than eight individuals alleged that the Bodu Bala Sena General Secretary had made a defamatory statement to the media regarding Islam and the Holy Quran. They had requested that the police take the necessary legal action against the monk.
