CEB employees will launch a massive protest against privatisation on June 21
CEB Trade Union Alliance President Ranjan Jayalal says that all CEB employees will gather at Viharamahadevi Park on June 21 for a massive protest against the government’s plan to privatise the CEB.
He said that CEB employees devoid of their political affiliations will join in this protest against the privatisation of the CEB.
"The government has already made plans to sell 52 state entities for a song to foreign companies. Some of these government institutions are making huge profits", he says.
He said that a unit of electricity generated by the Lakshapana power plant costs only 60 cents to the government, but the power plant is to be sold to a Korean company.
"Plans are afoot to sell Mahaweli power plants to Adani Group, while the Lakvijaya power plant is to be sold to China", he said.
