President Gotabaya Rajapaksa n a condolence message said former minister Mangala Samaraweera was an an honoured politician who made a significant service to the Sri Lankans by actively participating in many struggles and launching great transformations in the course of Sri Lankan politics”. In a Facebook post he said he was deeply saddened to hear the sudden demise of former minister Samaraweera. ”Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa in a condolence note on Twitter said. Today we have lost a great leader, a man who loved this nation. I thank him for his service to Sri Lanka,” he said. Opposition Leader and Samagi Jana Balawegaya Leader Sajith Premadasa in a condolence note said, “Dear Mangala Samaraweera, you were a man of the age who respected humanity and was committed to the vision you believed in according to your conscience”.
