The Permanent High Court Trial-at-Bar yesterday (08) permitted Minister Mahindananda Aluthgamage to travel overseas until July 31.

Minister Aluthgamage’s lawyers requested the court to permit him to travel to Italy to attend a seminar organised by World Food Programme. He will represent the country as the Minister of Agriculture.

The Director-General of the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption had filed indictments against Minister Mahindananda Aluthgamage and former Sathosa Chairman Nalin Fernando for allegedly defrauding the country to the tune of Rs53.1 million while importing sports equipment during the 2015 Presidential Election.
