Court orders a fresh postmortem to determine the cause of death

Bail applications filed by four suspects including, the wife of Parliamentarian RishadBathiudeen, were today rejected by Colombo Chief Magistrate Court.
Accordingly, the four suspects including, the wife of MP Rishad Bathiudeen, her father and her brother arrested over the death of a 16-year-old domestic aide were, ordered to be further remanded till August 23 by the Additional Magistrate Rajindra Jayasuriya.
On July 26, the Court had issued an order to exhume the body of the 16-year-old girl who died at the residence of MP Rishad Bathiudeen, to perform a fresh post mortem.
The Court further ordered the health authorities to appoint a panel of medical experts to perform a fresh post mortem into the death of the girl, to ascertain whether the death was a murder or suicide.
Meanwhile, the Court issued an order directing the IGP to conduct an inquiry to ascertain as to how facts relating to the investigation were released to the media before facts go to Courts.
Additional Magistrate made this order under a request made by Deputy Solicitor General Dileepa Pieris.
The prosecution is expecting to name MP Rishad Bathiudeen as the fifth suspect in the case.
