COVID-19 - More than a 1000

The number of COVID-19 positive patients exceeded the 1000 mark today, May 19, when 28 more Navy personnel tested positive, bringing the total infected to 1020.
According to Dr. Anil Jasinghe, Director General, Health Services, all of the 28 Navy personnel were from amongst those in the Quarantine Centre at Oluvil.
In a press statement released through the Department of Information, Dr. Jasinghe also states that currently a total of 442 patients are receiving treatment in hospital, while 569 have been discharged.
The majority of COVID-19 patients to date have been from amongst the Navy.
A hundred and thirty five are under investigation in hospitals, according to statistics of the Health Promotion Bureau. Meanwhile, the number of PCR tests conducted yesterday, May 18 had been 960.
