Two businessmen held in remand custody for allegedly aiding and abetting to remove two containers with 54,000 kilograms of garlic belonging to Lanka Sathosa were today ordered to be released on bail by Welisara Magistrate’s Court.

The two suspects Welaudam Siridaran the sole proprietor of S.K Traders and his uncle Sinnaiyah Kamalakumar were ordered to be released on two sureties of Rs.5 million with a cash bail Rs.100,000 each by Magistrate Heshantha de Mel. The suspects were further ordered to surrender their passports to the court custody.

Two suspects had been arrested on the charges of aiding and abetting, criminal breach of trust, concealing information and the unlawful release of goods.

The first suspect in the Garlic scam Susil Perera, the Deputy General Manager of the SathosaFinance Division arrested over the incident has already been granted bail.
