Death of former Commissioner General of Janasaviya Susil SiriwardeneSusil Siriwardane, the architect of the Janasaviya programme under late President R. Premadasa, has passed away yesterday morning. He too was a victim of Covid. Though Mr Siriwardene initially recovered from Covid, developed breathing difficulties few days after. Oxford educated Mr Siriwardene initially joined the Educaion Department as a teacher and was involved in JVP politics during the 1971 insurrection. A relative of the late S.W.R.D Bandaranaike later joined the Ceylon Administrative Service and became the Commissioner General of Janasaviya now known as Samurdhi under late President R.Premadasa.
