Two members of the Muslim community examine the remnants of their home following the Aluthgama riots of 2014. Minority groups, especially the Muslim community have been at the receiving end of violence and harassment, following the end of the 30 year ethnic clashes between the Sinhalese and the Tamils. The Rajapaksa government, for the most part ignored the anti-minority sentiments. The current government did no better, when violence erupted between Sinhalese and Muslims earlier this year in the Kandy area. Would legislation alone help change popular sentiments that seek to demonise the other?
