The government is planning to award degrees similar to NDC (National Defence College) at the Sri Lanka National Defence Academy for senior armed forces officials who complete an eleven-month course at the institute. Those undergoing training will be eligible for postgraduate qualifications under this programme.
To make this objective a reality the President had proposed that a new Parliamentary Act be introduced to incorporate the National Defence Academy under the Kotalawala Defence University.
The academic activities of this institution are scheduled to be inaugurated in May 2021.
