The journalists were today unable to cover the magisterial inquiry into the death of businessman Dinesh Schaffter since the court decided to hold the inquiry in camera, upon a request made by the relatives of the deceased.
It was revealed that the wife of Dinesh Schaffter and an employee who served under Schaffter had given evidence before Colombo Additional Magistrate Rajindra Jayasuriya at the Magistrate’s chamber.
A further magisterial inquiry has been scheduled for January 10.
On a previous occasion, the Colombo Chief Magistrate’s Court had ordered the Government Analyst to conduct DNA tests on the samples collected from the blood samples and other body parts of businessman Dinesh Schaffter.
The CID informed the court that they intend to request a DNA report pertaining to businessman Dinesh Schaffter’s body parts and other samples collected from the crime scene.
The DNA tests are to be performed on the samples of blood, hair, and nails of Dinesh Schaffter and other materials collected from the crime scene.
