Director of the State Intelligence Service Suresh Salley yesterday gave evidence in a lawsuit filed against Rev. Fr. Cyril Gamini Fernando before Colombo District Court and said the statements made in reference to him with regard to the 2019 Easter Attacks by Fr. Cyril Gamini Fernando immensely caused damages to his reputation and official career.

Filing a lawsuit before Colombo District Court, Suresh Salley is claiming Rs. 50 million as damages from Fr. Cyril Gamini Fernando over statements he made at an online forum on October 23, 2021, on the Easter Attacks.

In his evidence before District Court Judge Sandun Vithana, Salley said malicious statements made by Fr. Cyril Gamini Fernando adversely affected him and his children.

Salley maintained that the statements made against him were false and baseless, and they were made with the intention of causing damage to his reputation.

The Colombo District Court fixed the further hearing for January 25.
