Dr Shafi Shabdeen reinstated

Dr Shafi Shahabdeen, who was in the centre of a controversy over alleged illegal sterilisation operations performed on Sinhala women in Kurunegala, was reinstated. Authorities sent Dr Shafi on compulsory leave following a controversy created by extremist Sinhala forces with a communal tinge. The Health Ministry will pay him back wages for loss of employment..
