Frontline Socialist Party activist Duminda Nawagamuwa has been noticed to appear before Colombo Fort Magistrate's Court on September 6 in connection with a complaint lodged by Public Security Minister Tiran Alles over a statement he made involving the JVP and Minister Alles during a press conference.
The CID conducting investigations into the incident sought an order for notice directing Duminda Nagamuwa to appear before the court since they were unable to trace his whereabouts. The CID informed the court that they are expecting to record a statement from Duminda Nagamuwa as part of the ongoing investigation into the incident.
In his complaint, Minister Alles said Nagamuwa had made a statement at a press conference on August 12 that Tiran Alles and the JVP were maintaining an offshore account on a European island, Malta.
The minister lodged the complaint, demanding an investigation into this statement and alleging that it was false and baseless.
