Christians throughout Sri Lanka celebrated Easter Sunday religious services amid heavy security.
Police and the armed forces provided security for 1944 churches fearing extremist attacks during the holy week ended today with the celebrations to mark the resurrection of Christ within three days of crucifixion on Good Friday.
Roman Catholics and other Christians launched a continuous agitation urging the government to take action against the perpetrators of the Easter Sunday attack of 2019 that killed over 250 and maimed an equal number.
The President, meanwhile in his Easter message stated that the people who are responsible for the Easter Sunday attacks, will be dealt with according to the law.
