Eggs imported from India are sold at Rs. 35 each

Eggs imported from India have been made available at Lanka Sathosa outlets since today.

Accordingly, imported eggs will be sold at Rs 35 each at all Lanka Sathosa outlets countrywide from today. An egg in a carton is priced at Rs. 40 each. Trade Minister Nalin Fernando said that the price of an egg in the open market is around Rs. 50. The eggs imported from India were issued only for the purposes of bakeries, and those were not available on the open market until today.
