The Colombo High Court today concludedrecording evidence from both prosecution and defence in a case filed against Tourism Minister Prasanna Ranatunga and his wife.

The Attorney General had filed indictments against Minister Prasanna Ranatunge, his wife Maureen Ranatunge and another person on the charge of threatening a businessman demanding the rest of money out of Rs.64 million.

High Court Judge Manjula Tillekaratne directed the parties to file their written submissions before May 31.

The Colombo High Court decided to proceedwith the trial against Prasanna Ranatunge and his wife in absentia of third accused Naresh Kumar Fareek who was evading courts from the beginning of investigations.

The Attorney General filed indictments on 15 counts against three accused Prasanna Ranatunge, Maureen Ranatunge and Naresh Kumar Fareek based on charges of committing offences between April 6, 2015 and June 2, 2015.
