The final draft of the new constitution was expected is likely to be submitted by the end of this year, Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa informed Parliament today.
Responding to a question raised by National Peoples’ Power (NPP) MP Anura Kumara Dissanayake, he said the committee appointed by the Cabinet of Ministers to draft a new Constitution is now finalisng on the draft.
According to the Prime Minister the committee is headed by President’s Counsel Romesh de Silva .
The other members are President’s Counsel Manohara De Silva, President’s Counsel Sanjeewa Jayawardena, President’s Counsel Naveen Marapana, Prof. Nazeema Kamardeen, Dr. A. Sarveswaran, President’s Counsel Samantha Ratwatte, Prof.WasanthaSenevirathne, Abdul Wahid Abdul Salam and Prof.G.H.Peiris.
