A Sri Lankan has been tested positive for COVID-19 as the number of cases worldwide continues to soar.
According to a top official attached to the Ministry of Health the patient is a tour guide who was engaged in a round-tour with a group of Italian tourists.
The patient was treated at the Infectious Diseases Hospital (IDH) in Angoda where he was tested positive.
The news comes amidst the tourism industry welcoming a statement made by Chief Executive of PC Agency, a consultancy group, promoting Sri Lanka and the Caribbean’s as the safest places to travel to during the pandemic.
During an interview on SkyNews he said, “The two countries where the heat is on, seemed to be reporting very few cases of coronavirus.”
The country’s first patient was a Chinese national, a tourist, who was successfully treated and released from the IDH.
