At least fourteen people killed, two people reported missing and, 245,212 people belonging to a large number of families have been affected in ten districts due to inclement weather.

Meanwhile, DMC sources said the weather is likely to improve in a day, or two and floodwaters may start receding.

The DMC also said people in many districts that include, Gampaha, Rathnapura, Colombo, Kaluthara, Nuwara-Eliya Puttalam, Kegalle, Kandy, Kurunegala and Galle districts, have been affected by the severe weather.

Nearly seventeen thousand people have been directed to safe locations in these areas and statistics indicate that more than 800 houses have been damaged beyond repair and 14  partially damaged.

Meanwhile, five deaths have been reported from Kegalle, three from Rathnapura and two from Gampaha while the other districts, Colombo Puttalam, Kaluthara and Galle reported one each. The DMC said
