Tamil National People’s Front leader and parliamentarian Gajendrakumar Ponnambalam, along with a group of residents in Kankasanthurai, yesterday started a protest opposite the Tissa Viharaya in Kankasanthurai, saying that the temple has been erected on several plots of land belonging to the residents in the area. TNPF Secretary and Parliamentarian Selvarasa Gajendran, who was arrested for staging a protest at the same place last week in violation of a court order and later released on bail, was also present at the protest.
