The GMOA will engage in a symbolic work stoppage at the LRH on Wednesday against the behaviour of a female specialist

The GMOA will launch a 24-hour symbolic strike at the outpatient department of the Lady Ridgeway Children's Hospital in Colombo tomorrow.

Hospital sources said that three doctors have not reported working at the hospital for almost a month due to a dispute between a female specialist and the three doctors working in Ward 8 of the hospital. The director of the hospital has also sent a letter to the Ministry of Health recently (10), informing them that the salaries of these three doctors must be withheld owing to their failure to report to duty. The hospital director said that these doctors have not reported to work for almost a month since June 21, and hence their salaries cannot be paid using public money. These doctors have not reported to the hospital, stating that a female specialist working in the ward was rude to them.
