Government expresses its readiness for the IMF programme

  The government has written to the International Monetary Fund (IMF) expressing its willingness for an IMF support programme to restructure the economy. The letter under the signature of Treasury Secretary S.R.Attygalle will reach Washington within this week. Finance Minister Basil Rajapakse will travel to Washington in Mid April for necessary negotiations with IMF officials and later with the World Bank during his stay in Washington.
