Government to fix rates for PCR and antigen tests

The government will soon introduce fixed rates for PCR and antigen tests carried out by the private health services facilities.
Presently the private sector hospitals are charging Rs 8000 for a PCR and an amount ranging from Rs 2500 to 3000 for an antigen test.
Accordingly, the Ministry of Health will fix the rates as 6500 for PCR tests and Rs2000 for antigen tests.
A gazette notification giving details of the new rates will soon be published, government sources said.
