The government should take full responsibility for the Covid deaths in the country, SJB Parliamentarian Patali Champika Ranawaka said.
Sri Lanka is leading in the number of fatalities according to the population ratio, he said.
As we are aware, Malaysia placed second in the number of fatalities forcing the Malaysian Prime minister to step down over his failure to control the spread of Covid, he emphasized. He accused the leaders of going behind demons and evil spirits instead of taking pragmatic decisions.
He welcomed the Union Leaders who volunteered to lock down the country if the government failed to take appropriate action.
They are now threatening government servants with pay cuts, but this is no longer possible under the circumstances.
The concealed statistics show that the actual number infected with Covid is much higher than the published figure. The officers connected to this, whoever it would be, may have to face repercussions as we saw so many Police officers making confessions to the Buddhist prelates in connection with the Easter Sunday attack. A similar fate may befall the officers involved in concealing these figures, he said.
