SJB Parliamentarian Dr Harsha De Silva alleged today that the members of the Monetary Board and the governor of the Central Bank of Sri Lanka have failed to appear before the Public finance committee as required by them.
The MP alleged they are under obligation to answer critical questions on behalf of the people. Failure to appear before the Finance Committee is a serious matter. By doing so, they have invariably brought Parliament to disrepute. They cannot continue this.
The MP requested the Chair to look into the matter since they are dealing with public finance.
Today this Parliament is trying to increase the financial Vat from 15% to 18%. All Banks and financial institutions will have to pay this. He said.
The Central Bank is doing various things and meddling with people’s money. It is not Nivard Cabraal’s money. The money belongs to the people of this country.
MP Harsha De Silva said that his information is that one state bank has defaulted.
