Hemasiri,Pujith indicted on 800 counts.

Attorney General today filed two separate cases against Former Defence Secretary Hemasiri Fernando and former Inspector General of Police Pujith Jayasunderfa in connection with the Easter Sunday attack in 2019.

These cases will be heard by two separate trials at-bar appointed by the Chief Justice.

The Attorney General had indicted the two accused on 800 counts, which include murder, attempted murder and for their serious lapses and grave omission to prevent the Easter Sunday attack.

At least 279 people were killed and over five hundred people injured or maimed over three suicide bomb explosions on the Easter Sunday in three churches and few hotels by an Islamic extremist group
