A Hotel manager was sentenced for procuring an underage girl for prostitution.

A hotel manager who pleaded guilty to procuring an underage girl for prostitution was today sentenced to one-year suspended imprisonment by the Colombo High Court.

The Attorney General had filed indictments against the accused for the offence of procuring a 14-year-old girl for prostitution at a hotel in Colombo.

The hotel manager was sentenced to one year of imprisonment suspended for five years by Colombo High Court Judge Nawaratne Marasinghe, taking into account the guilty plea decision of the accused.

The accused was ordered to pay a compensation of Rs. 300,000 to the victim in addition to the Rs. 25,000 fine imposed by the court.

The accused had been charged with the offence of procuration under Section 360A(1) of the Penal Code.
